New Churches Invite More People to Experience Joy of our Faith
On Sundays, George Gay used to stay home while his wife went to church.
He had long abandoned his Southern Baptist upbringing but didn’t feel a connection with any church in his hometown of Oviedo. But all that changed when he entered the doors of the newly formed parish, Most Precious Blood Catholic Church.
“As soon as I walked through the door, I felt like I was part of the family,” George said about the welcoming community he would soon long to join.
Encouraged by the support and understanding he received at Most Precious Blood, he began to think about becoming Catholic and entered the RCIA program in August of 2006. Catechists involved with implementing the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults [RCIA] are certified through the Diocesan Office of Religious Education in the Diocese of Orlando.
“I have met some of the most amazing people and the team has been so helpful and understanding that I’ve had a tremendously enriching experience in and out of church,” George said.
This past Easter, 28-year-old George Gay was baptized Catholic and received his
first Holy Communion and Confirmation in front of his parish community, family and friends.
His faith is on fire and he is an inspiration to others who are following his same path.
George’s sister, nieces and nephew have also entered RCIA and they will soon become Catholic as well.
