Pathways to Care: Sharing God’s Love to Let Healing Begin
Henry shared his heartfelt story of life before and after entering Pathways to Care, a ministry of Catholic Charities. The assisted-living facility helps under or non-insured adults who need a safe place to heal in a supportive environment.
A friend’s betrayal started a downward spiral that would leave him in financial ruin. “I went into business with a friend. He stole all the money and ran. Because the business was taken away from me, I had to wind up selling my house to pay bills. I wound up indigent,” said Henry.
After an illness and recovery time at Pathways to Care, his life began to turn around. “I applied for a job and after the first 30 days, they made me a manager. My life is right back where it was before I went in. To me, now there’s hope,” said Henry.
Pathways to Care provides people like Henry a place to heal physically and spiritually.
“Pathways to Care is really about helping people out of the cycle of despair. The facility provides medical services and social services to people while they recover from an illness or surgery. People leave here in better shape than they came,” said Arne Nelson, President and CEO of Catholic Charities of Central Florida.
More importantly, Pathways to Care provides hope to the hopeless.
“Pathways to Care is an expression of the Church’s solidarity with poor, medically underserved adults who need a supportive environment to heal. Through Pathways to Care, we witness to the hope inspired by our faith that proclaims God is love,” said Bishop Thomas Wenski.
