Worldwide Marriage Encounter Day of Enrichment on June 2

Worldwide Marriage Encounter of Central Florida is holding a Day of Enrichment in Orlando on June 2, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for couples that have already particpated in a Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend.  The Day of Enrichment will include three talks (on Finances, Communication, and Forgiveness) and will allow ample time for dialogue, sharing, and peaceful “couple time.”  Please call Marilyn & Walter Young (407 971-0297) or Claire & Dennis Marotte (407 282-2899) for information and to register.  Babysitting information can be obtained when you call to register.

June 5 Ordination/Installation Mass to be on TV and the Internet

Those interested in watching Father Gregory Parkes’ ordination to the episcopacy and installation as the fifth bishop of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee can do so through two Catholic-based television networks as well as the Internet. The Mass of Ordination and Installation begins at 3 p.m. on June 5 and will be celebrated at St. Paul Catholic Church in Pensacola.

  • EWTN (visit www.ewtn.com for digital cable listings) will provide live coverage of the Mass and will rebroadcast the Mass at midnight the following day.
  • CatholicTV (visit www.catholictv.com for digital cable listings) will also air the Mass live on television and the Internet, and will rebroadcast at a time to be determined.


Bishop Noonan to Lead Corpus Christi Procession June 10

Bishop John Noonan will lead an annual Corpus Christi procession to observe the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ on June 10 and to celebrate the diversity of our universal Church.

Following the 5 p.m. Mass at St. James Cathedral in downtown Orlando, Bishop Noonan will depart the Cathedral with a monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. He will lead a procession six blocks to St. James Cathedral School located at 505 East Ridgewood Street. The procession will end with Benediction. All are invited to attend.

The Diocese of Orlando represents many ethnic groups all united in the universal Catholic Church. In addition to English, Mass is celebrated in eight foreign languages: African dialect, Portuguese, Filipino, Spanish, Polish, Korean, Vietnamese and Creole.

 

 



Eucharistic Congress scheduled for June 21-23

The Diocese of Orlando will present the third annual Eucharistic Congress from June 21-23 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs. This celebration is planned by the Office of Hispanic Ministry and will be offered in Spanish.

The event is designed to help participants grow in their understanding of and devotion to the Eucharist, and offers the opportunity to attend Eucharistic Adoration and participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Eucharistic Congress begins with an opening Mass at 7 p.m. June 21. Activities on June 22 include Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, a concert by local musicians and prayer for vocations.

The final day, June 23, will offer a variety of talks and devotions, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The keynote speaker is Alejandro Bermudez, host of “Cara a Cara” (Face to Face) on EWTN En Español. Tickets are available in advance for $15 by contacting Yvette Hernandez at the Diocese of Orlando Chancery at 407-246-4930. Tickets are also available at the door for $18.


Save the Date - Pastoral Care Conference

Exciting plans are under way for the 2012 Pastoral Care Conference. Please save the date and join us on August 25th at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Winter Park.  Bishop John Noonan will open the day with the celebration of Mass at 9:00 a.m.

The theme chosen by the planning committee is “Do you see Me Now? Nurturing the Healthy Minister in Ourselves.”   

National speakers, Graziano and Nancy Marcheschi, will entertain and inspire as they show us new ways to love ourselves and our neighbors, so that we may live Jesus’ command to, “love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12).

This conference is accepted towards continuing education for MTS recertification.

Medicare Part B provides the elderly and disabled a resource to meet their physical and mental health care needs.

The Diocese of Orlando Office of Communications publishes a weekly electronic newsletter known as E-Scroll to keep you informed of what is happening with the many ministries of the Chancery Office such as Vocations, Family Life, Advocacy and Justice, Youth Ministry and Faith Formation. The newsletter also contains information about diocesan entities such as Catholic Charities, Bishop Grady Villas and San Pedro Center. Plus, there is news about our shepherd, Bishop John Noonan and our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI.
