Brief Description of Job: This director-level position has primary responsibility for a department within the Diocese of Orlando that is charged with the administration and execution of design, construction and facility maintenance projects/programs for the Diocese, its related entities and affiliates (including parishes and schools). Some essential duties include assisting and educating Diocesan entity representatives in project policies/procedures; overseeing and managing construction processes and Master Planning; identifying, coordinating and monitoring performance of approved consultants approved by the Construction Services Committee; managing contract negotiation processes; maintaining records; implementing and overseeing comprehensive program for property management services related to all buildings and physical assets of the Diocese; and administering activities of the Construction Services Committee.
Minimum Qualifications: A Degree in Construction Contracting, Engineering, Construction Management or the equivalent; at least 15 years of experience with a major construction contracting company or real estate development company as a Construction Project Manager or Construction Project Director. Experience in Central Florida preferred.
Requires demonstrated ability to:
- contemporaneously coordinate all aspects of multiple projects in excess of $10M from concept through warranty issues;
- engage, manage and coordinate multiple consultants in various construction disciplines;
- oversee and manage a department of not less than 5 support personnel;
- participate in competitively bid projects of a substantial size;
- negotiate complex construction documents, including Architectural and Construction agreements;
- work with legal counsel to review documents and identify and document claims and defenses;
- proactively identify, analyze and negotiate construction claims;
- implement and effectively manage a comprehensive property management services program for an organization operating in multiple locations and with varying facility structures;
Experience with owner-purchase tax savings programs; construction insurance and builder’s risk policies; and construction claims and litigation.
Must possess a working knowledge of the Catholic Church and its structures, functions and institutions; and requires strong ethical values, including honesty and integrity, especially in matters requiring strict confidence.
