Diocesan Catechist Certification

 DCCP_Header_6-5-300

“Programs of formation should be designed to help them [catechists]  acquire the knowledge and skills they need to hand on the faith to those entrusted to their care and assist them in living as disciples” [NDC, page 235].

The Diocesan Catechist Certification Program [DCCP], the official faith formation program for all catechists in the Diocese of Orlando, serves all those involved with religious education, Catholic schools, youth/young adult, adult ministry, Catechumenate, and other catechetical ministries.

Here you will find information pertaining to catechist formation, including training, events and opportunities designed to support the ministry of the catechist.

Annually DCCP serves over 1500 people in various catechetical ministries and receives nearly 3500 registrations for courses in English, Spanish and Vietnamese. The DCCP office keeps detailed records of all who have taken catechist certification courses.

Catechist Certification is given to all persons who complete the necessary requirements for each level of certification. The content of the courses of formation ranges from those presented on the basics of our Catholic faith to more intense studies of Christology, Ecclesiology, Scripture, Liturgy and Sacraments, etc. to special training for those who catechize in the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation. How to Register: All participants for courses register through the parish catechetical leader or Catholic School Principal [or one designated by them]. All registrations take place on the official registration form and sent to the diocesan office. Payment for courses [$15.00 per course] must be received before the course begins.
