Proposed Cemetery Expansion

Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery and San Pedro Community obtain State approvals and County adoption.

Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery has passed the initial approval process required by Seminole County and the State of Florida as part of the Master Plan for future development of the San Pedro property.  Queen of Peace Cemetery will be the first phase of a senior development planned for a portion of the acreage of San Pedro Spiritual Center.  The planned development will also include age-restricted housing, medical and care facilities so that Central Florida’s growing senior population will be afforded an opportunity to ‘age in place’ The Development Order was approved on July 27, 2010.  Site plans for the entire development project are expected to be detailed and begin the next phase of the approval process through the State of Florida over the next five years.

Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery is allotted 70 acres of the 480 acre property known as San Pedro Center.  The cemetery, open to all Catholics, would be located near the existing priests’ cemetery adjacent to Mary, Mother of God Chapel.  The initial phase of the Cemetery will include five acres for interment.  The Diocese’s Cemetery Board was established by Archbishop Thomas G. Wenski, prior to his appointment to the Archdiocese of Miami and includes Father Richard Trout, pastor of All Souls Catholic Church, Father Edward Waters, pastor of St. Timothy Catholic Church, and Fred Haddad, member of the Diocesan Finance Committee as its members.  Antonio Aguerrevere, Diocese of Orlando Senior Director of Design and Building will serve as staff to the board.  Albert Bustamante of Baker Hostetler will serve as legal counsel.

Established in 1968, the Catholic Diocese of Orlando serves more than 800,000 members of Christ’s faithful in nine counties of Central Florida.
