Archbishop Celli Named to Media Council
VATICAN CITY, JUNE 27, 2007 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI appointed Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli as the new president of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications.
Archbishop Celli, 65, is leaving his current post as the secretary of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Holy See to assume his new position.
Archbishop Celli will be taking over the presidency of the communication council from Archbishop John Foley, who has been named the grand master of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem.
Archbishop Celli played a decisive role in launching the Vatican's Web site in 1997.
For his diplomatic efforts to improve dialogue between the Holy See and countries like China and Vietnam, he was awarded the "Freindadametz 2005" prize.
Claudio Celli was born in 1941 in Rimini, Italy. He was ordained a priest in 1965 and a bishop in 1996.
The Diocese of Orlando brought home the gold during the 2007 Golden Image Awards Gala on August 7 in Sarasota.
Winners demonstrate the very best examples of innovation, planning and design. The awards competition includes entries from across the state of Florida and is sponsored by the Florida Public Relations Association.
To qualify for judging, an entry must incorporate sound public relations research and planning. Entries also must meet the highest standard of production, execution and evaluation of results and budget.
The Diocese of Orlando received two judges’ awards, which is a special distinction that recognizes the achievement of maximum results while using a minimum amount of money.
The 2007 Catholic Appeal Campaign received a Judges’ Award in the Public Relations Programs Division. Materials that were judged include a brochure, poster, postcard and DVD. All materials featured close up and compelling photographs of those who benefit from the campaign’s annual appeal.
Marta Sweeney with the Diocese of Orlando Office of Stewardship and Development, John White with Visual Impact Productions and Marty Csercsevits with Evok Advertising created the award winning campaign.
The other winning entry was a self-published book written by Carol Brinati to raise funds for the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church Choir. Brinati is the Diocese of Orlando’s Secretary of Evangelization and she sings with the St. Margaret Mary choir.
The book titled, “The Christmas Pickle” is based on the true story of a church choir that must find a lead singer just moments before Mass on Christmas Eve.
The book includes a CD that features the St. Margaret Mary choir performing O Holy Night. The Christmas Pickle received the award in the Printed Tools of Public Relations Division.
This year’s competition marked 50 years of Golden Image Awards in Florida.
