San Pedro Center Development Order Adopted

On Tuesday July 27, 2010 the San Pedro team consisting of the Planners & Engineering Consultants, Diocesan legal council and the Diocesan Design & Construction Services senior Director, attended the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners meeting with the purpose of adopting the Development Order for San Pedro. After a brief presentation by County staff and the San Pedro Consultants, the board was opened for questions and concerns. All concerns were responded to favorably and the motion passed unanimously.

The next steps are for the County to transmit the adoption of the Development Order to the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) in Tallahassee, then DCA will post the Order within 45 days followed by a 20 day appeal period.

History

On September 30, 2009 former Diocese of Orlando Bishop Thomas Wenski announced the filing with Seminole County of a request to rezone the 470 acres encompassing San Pedro Center.

The rezoning will provide for future growth of the Spiritual Center, expansion of the existing Catholic cemetery, and an age-restricted mixed use residential village.

The information provided on this Web site is a work in progress. Changes will be made to the information as Diocese of Orlando representatives and their partners work with Seminole County to obtain approvals.

Please understand that the process of rezoning and comprehensive planning can take two years. Assuming final approval, the construction of the project will happen in phases and details regarding start or completion are currently unknown.

Thank you for visiting this Web site to learn more about the proposal which seeks to fulfill the spiritual needs of our Catholic community and their families through the expansion of the existing cemetery and also serve the growing, senior Central Florida community.
