ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY
The residents of Bishop Grady Villas celebrated the “Joys of the Season” during their annual Christmas party with family, friends and the generous help from employees of Federal Express, local high school students and Spin that Wheel DJ service. The party was held at Bishop Grady Villas on December 13th, and is the highlight of the Christmas season for the residents.

The Season of Giving.
Federal Express employees got involved when Jules and Wanda Vasquez were put in charge of the Spirit Team, a group whose task it is to lift the morale of fellow employees. Jules and Wanda learned of Bishop Grady Villas through their church, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, and decided that helping to make Christmas special for the residents was just what their team needed. Thad Taylor, operations manager said, “It was outstanding to see how excited the folks were to get their gifts. There has been a buzz around here for two days. My co-workers at Federal Express have told everyone about Bishop Grady Villas.”

The Dining Hall Team.
The team helped set up the dining hall, served the meal and provided each of the 43 residents with a personalized stocking filled with gifts. They also presented Bishop Grady Villas with a karaoke machine which was one of the items on the Villas’ Holiday Wish List. Kevin Johnson, executive director, stated: “Not only will the residents enjoy many hours singing together and entertaining each other; but, the karaoke machine will also give us a tool to help build residents’ self -confidence as they practice their public speaking using the microphone.” The group of employees raised the money to purchase the karaoke machine, stockings and the gifts by selling candy. Sister Elizabeth Marie Stoup, SSJ, who attended the party said, "It was so wonderful to see all the employees of Federal Express donating their time and supporting Bishop Grady Villas. They are doing so much good and their participation at the party was such a blessing."

Santa's Helpers.
Students from Gateway, Harmony and Celebration High Schools participated as Santa’s helpers as they, too, helped serve the food, take pictures and danced with the residents. Bishop Moore High School’s Best Buddies group added to the festivities by donating gift bags for each resident and contributing to the cost of the food, and the DJ service was provided free of charge by Cliff and Lisa Flowers and Spin that Wheel DJ’s.
