Bishop Grady Villas Admissions Policy and Procedures
The criteria and procedures of admission are established in response to the mission and purpose of Bishop Grady Villas: to provide for life a stable, secure, family-oriented, Christ-centered residential environment for adults who are mentally challenged.

Criteria for Admission
The Applicant must be:
- At least eighteen years old.

- Developmentally disabled, with primary diagnosis of mental retardation; consideration will be given to applicants with diagnosis of other developmental disabilities if the needs for placement of the applicant fit the mission and capabilities of Bishop Grady Villas, its staff, and resources.
- Able to self-care: dress, feed, bathe, groom, and assist with daily chores of the house.
- Engaged in a daily (Monday through Friday) activity outside the home: i.e., approved employment, sheltered work, vocational rehabilitation, or social stimulation.
- Capable of co-existing peacefully in a group setting with other similarly-situated individuals. Any individual accepted for admission will agree to abide by all residency rules and the Code of Conduct adopted by Bishop Grady Villas and will agree to respect the rights and privileges of all residents. The applicant will further agree that discipline, up to and including discharge, will be administered for violations of the residency rules and the Code of Conduct.
- Willing to submit to medical and psychological examinations as determined necessary by the Admissions Board.
Procedure for Admission
- Family member, guardian, referring agency must submit a written application.

- Applicant, with family member or guardian present, is interviewed by Executive Director.
- Applicant participates in a series of visits to Bishop Grady Villas (e.g., dinner with residents, weekend visit and a one week stay). A fee for each trial period will be charged to cover the costs of supervision, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Staff reviews and evaluates applicant.
- Consultation is made by Executive Director with two members of the Admissions Board.
- Financial assistance of family or scholarship/subsidy availability determined.
- Admission will not be denied to an individual because of race, religion, color, or national origin.
- Offer or decline admission, or place on waiting list.
- Records of the Applicant will not be maintained by Bishop Grady Villas if the Applicant is denied admission.
- Reference or Background Checks will be conducted.
- If an Applicant is denied admission, he or she may request the Board of Directors of Bishop Grady Villas to review the application and re-consider the Admissions Board's decision.
