Bishop Grady Villas - Admission, Retension, and Discharge Procedures

Admission Procedures

A. An initial application must be submitted to the Director and Admission Board for review.
B. Those interested in applying are strongly encouraged to visit Bishop Grady Villas.
C. The Director or designee will develop an application package consisting of, among other things:

1. Bishop Grady Villas Application
2. Signed and completed medical and psychology report
3. Financial information
4. Medical authorization release form
5. General rules form
6. Appropriately executed Guardian and Consent forms, including a specific agreement by the Applicant and his or her guardian to comply with all residency rules and any Code of Conduct adopted by Bishop Grady Villas.

D. When an opening is available, the Director presents all eligible applications to the Admission Board.
E. If the application is accepted a proposed move in date will be mutually approved.

Resident Status and Discharge* (After acceptance into BISHOP GRADY VILLAS)

A. Probation. Each new resident will be on probation for a 30-day period. This period may be extended for up to an additional 60 days at the Director's sole discretion. In addition, a current resident who violates the residency rules or the Code of Conduct may be placed on probation not to exceed 90 days. Successful completion of the probationary period is a pre-requisite to continued residency at Bishop Grady Villas.
B. Full-Time Status. After satisfactory completion of the probationary period and upon recommendation of the Director, House Parents, and Admission Board, the applicant becomes a full-time resident.
C. Discharge. The following list of unacceptable conduct is illustrative, and not an exhaustive list of dischargeable offenses:

a. Violations of any residency rule or the Code of Conduct
b. Inappropriate sexual activity
c. Consistent severe disruptive behavior
d. Criminal or illegal activity
e. Repeated running away
f. Use of illegal drugs or abuse of prescribed or over-the-counter medication
g. Use of alcohol or smoking
h. Assault or battery on any resident, staff member, or guest
i. Repeated insubordination
j. Damaging Bishop Grady Villas' or others' property

Bishop Grady Villas also may determine, in its sole discretion, that a resident should be discharged when changes occur in the resident's physical or mental condition that cannot be accommodated by Bishop Grady Villas' staff. If financial arrangements with Bishop Grady Villas are not satisfied,management reserves the right to discharge the resident. A resident also can be discharged upon the request of his or her parent or guardian. The parent or legal guardian must provide written notice of the requested discharge to Bishop Grady Villas' Director at least 30 days before the discharge date.
