I have learned that life is tough sometimes. This past year I broke my right arm and I use that arm the most. This made life just a little harder. I still work for ‘Give Kids the World’ and I really do not like missing days especially when it was due to having a broken arm. It really made me feel down. I had to learn how to do everything with one arm like taking showers, brushing my teeth and combing my hair. Eating with my left hand was hard. I really wasn’t thrilled with having my caregivers calling and checking on me all the time because I was used to being very independent. But I know that without the staff’s help and following strict rules and guidelines from the doctor I wouldn’t have gotten better so I could return back to work. So I pushed on and asked for help with everything I knew I wasn’t supposed to do even though I disliked the fact that I couldn’t just do it by myself. Finally after a couple of months my arm healed and I was able to return back to work. Every one praised me on my healing process because they knew it took a lot out of me to wait months before getting back to the thing I love which is ’work’. I also have a new goal and that is to find a second job in the community so that I can work more hours and get paid more money. I am still looking for that special one. I look forward to learning new things.
