54 Young People Take “the Next Step” in Faith Journeys

On March 7, eighth grade Catholic and public school students from St. Joseph Parish were confirmed by Bishop John Noonan.

The entire Mass was beautiful, from the large entrance to the two cantors singing “Oceans,” a beautiful song rarely sung at the church. There were 54 Confirmandi. We chose to be confirmed because we were ready to take the next step in our faith.

The process of preparing to be confirmed was fun. We went on a weekend retreat in Vero Beach to become even closer in our faith. We had classes with our parents at another retreat, during which we made felt banners of our Confirmation names to be hung in the church. Father Bob interviewed each of us to make sure we were ready to be Confirmed. Before long, it was time to rehearse for Confirmation — only two days away!

On Saturday morning, we gathered in the school hall. There we received a present of a beautiful wooden cross to wear around our necks. Bishop Noonan came in and spoke to us before Mass started. Before we knew it, we were entering into the Church to be confirmed.
