Have you ever wondered what’s in the diocesan archives?  Things that tell the story of us! It’s a place of memory of our Diocesan community and seeks to preserve and promote an understanding of the history and traditions of the diocese.  So, what does that mean in terms of “stuff,” you might ask?  The recently posted “Collection Acquisition Policy” speaks to the scope of what is collected. The collection consists primarily of correspondence files, the letters and memos that reflect the ebb and flow of diocesan operations, ministries and services.  There are also materials on the history of our parishes, the business conducted by diocesan offices, objects of liturgy, some vestments of Bishops Grady and Dorsey, some photographs, paintings, and architectural drawings.  The collections are currently undergoing inventory and processing, and “finding aids” will be created and posted for understanding more about the contents of the diocesan archives collection.  Stay tuned!
