In this episode, Fr. Patrick has a “bible study” podcast where we can learn some of the different parts and symbols that make up the bible. The bible is a library of books: poetry, historic writings, wisdom literature, proverbs, songs. The bible also describes Matthew as the symbol “the man” since Matthew traces the human origins of Jesus Christ.
Mark: the lion. Jesus is the new Moses, the teacher of the faith, a leader like a lion.
Luke: Ox. Luke describes Jesus as the one who carries the burden of the people, a compassionate human being.
John: Eagle. Of all the birds in the air, the eagle looks into the brightness of the sun as John looked into the brightness of Jesus’ heart.
