Celebrating the Season of Advent

The Advent Season is a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to Christ’s second coming at the end of time and also to the anniversary of the Lord’s birth on Christmas.

The season is full of anticipation and excitement for the coming of Jesus and these feelings were shared through the eyes of the students of Sacred Heart Catholic School at their Advent Program held on Dec. 4. All the pews were filled as parents, grandparents and friends gathered to share in this celebration.

Kindergarten and first grade students performed an opening number under the direction of Miss Candice Cuchetti and then over 50 students, grades second through eighth, continued with an Advent production directed by Mrs. Carla Elliot. The kids worked several months on practicing for the performance and their hard work paid off as they showcased their talents and overwhelmed the audience.

Not only did the production put everyone in the Advent spirit, it featured the unique talents of the students, including soloists, dramatic presenters, and costume and set designers.

Sacred Heart School was blessed with the talents of the students and music teachers that evening but we all left the production with a better understanding of how important the season of Advent is and why it is so natural to enjoy the anticipation leading up to such a precious event in our lives as Christians.
