You may not be aware that a revised Rite of Marriage is awaiting a recognitio by the Holy See. In anticipation of its promulgation, the Diocese of Orlando is hosting two professional development events featuring renowned priest, theologian, and composer, Father Jan Michael Joncas, who currently serves as a consultant on the U.S. Bishops’ Committee on Divine Worship.
The first-day, Friday, May 15, 2015, is designed for clergy and lay ecclesial professionals and will highlight Catholic theology of marriage along with an examination of the Rite and its revisions. The second-day, Saturday, May 16, 2015, is aimed more for marriage preparation facilitators and catechists as well as pastoral musicians and liturgists (although clergy and lay professionals are also welcome). This gathering will highlight the theology of marriage in the morning and then will focus on wedding music in the afternoon. Father Joncas will play and sing in an afternoon-practicum. Saturday-attendees can take part in the morning or in the afternoon sessions or both. The events will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5125 S Apopka Vineland Rd. in Orlando and include lunch.
I encourage you, your staff, and your volunteers to attend. Please find links to the flyers below with the respective information.
