Born in Brazil into a Catholic family of 10 children, Carlos Conselho, moved to the United States in 1991 for medical treatment and special needs education for his son, Victor, and to provide better education opportunities for his two other children, Gustavo and Arthur.
He said he has felt the call to serve God for many years but postponed his desire to pursue what was in his heart because of work and his family. Now the Lord has touched his heart once again and in 2011, he started his discernment year.
“I am very excited to be part of the Church and I pray for the Holy Spirit to guide me,” he said.
Carlos and his wife, Valeria, have been married for 39 years and have seven grandchildren. Conselho and his wife were charismatic renewal prayer group leaders for many years and activists of the pro-life movement nationally and internationally. He hopes to continue to work together with his wife on the pro-life movement and bring it to his church community. He also hopes to bring all cultures at his church together as a united community.
He serves the Brazilian community at Resurrection Parish in Winter Garden and also participates at Prince of Peace Parish in Ormond Beach. Conselho lives in Ormond Beach and works for electrical connectors manufacturing Thomas & Betts, locally. He holds degrees in electronics, industrial engineering, business administration and a master’s in theology.
