The Francis Effect, a one-hour documentary on Pope Francis will air March 14 at 2 p.m. on the WFTV, the ABC affiliate in Orlando. The special will explore how Pope Francis is making the Church’s teachings understandable and why he has captured the attention of the world.

From the moment he appeared on the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica on March 13, 2013, Pope Francis won the hearts of the people.  His humility, simplicity and closeness to the poor reveal a man deeply in touch with the Gospel. He has initiated a fundamental reform of the Roman Curia, challenged a “globalization of indifference,” and become the most talked about person in the world.

Divided into six chapters representing the major themes of the first year of his papacy, The Francis Effect features exclusive interviews with prominent Catholics and non-Catholics, revealing that Pope Francis is having a profound effect on the world as well.

The film was produced by the Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation, and was made possible through a partnership with Interfaith Broadcasting Commission and ABC Television Network.
