Doorway People

Deacon David Gray, Diocesan Director of the Diaconate, joined me last Friday for “Poetry and Prayer” on Buena Nueva FM (click here to hear the podcast). Commenting on the Gospel story about Martha and Mary, Deacon Gray said that actions arising from communion with God in prayer are always blessings. His insights about the interplay of prayer and action were revelatory to me. Like Martha, I sometimes miss blessings in the midst of daily tasks. In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus invites the disciples into the persistence of daily prayer. To assist catechists in sharing this treasure of Christian life, we feature the 37 minute DVD, “Doorway People.” Divided into four sessions, Gaynell Cronin stresses the simplicity of breathing in “Getting Started at Prayer” and invites us to open Scripture as God’s personal letter in “Listening with the Heart.” In “Responding with Compassion,” a catechist witnesses to daily prayer for her group of learners. We focus on the big picture of ministry in “Walking with All Creation.” Includes a Leader’s Guide. Order this title or search our database with the word: prayer @ click here.
