As Catholics we are called to prayer, fasting and almsgiving during the season of Lent. With that in mind, Catholic Charities of Central Florida has developed a new Lenten program, “40 Ways in 40 Days.” The program provides suggestions to help those facing difficult times.
“Through 40 Ways in 40 Days parishioners, school children and families are given examples of how to serve through our ministry. We are grateful to everyone who will provide for the poor as part of their Lenten journey,” said Arne Nelson, President and CEO of Catholic Charities of Central Florida.
A calendar has been created and for each day of the Lenten Season, a suggestion is provided. For example, on February 22, Ash Wednesday, Catholics are asked to include Catholic Charities of Central Florida and the people they serve in prayer. On March 21, Catholics are asked to tutor a child from Youth Services Immigration Resettlement program. On March 28; the suggestion is to organize a food drive at a school and/or parish.
