Reshaping Catholic Leadership in the Church Today…

There are interesting insights being raised in Catholic ministerial life today. The National Conference for Catechetical Leadership, the Catholic Leadership Roundtable, and the USCCB Leadership Convocation have taken place over the last few months and each highlighted a common element of discerning our ecclesial future, as leaders and communities, in light of current sociological-data. One could argue that we are living in a tensive time in our world, our society, our Church, and our families. Pope Francis, in his Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Guadium, calls us to be joyful, prophetic, and innovative. The implications of this are real for everyone in pastoral leadership: 1) we have to be missionary-focused; 2) we need to be leadership-centered; 3) we need to be people-driven. On every level our structures and modes of operation are encountering an unprecedented pace of change.
