On Sunday, January 13, parishes in the Diocese of Orlando will take up a special collection for the National Collection for Black and Indian People and the Diocese of Orlando Farmworker Ministry.
Mandated by the Third Plenary Council in 1884, the National Collection for Black and Indian people, formerly known as The Black and Indian Home Mission Collection, supports evangelization efforts in Catholic American Indian, African American and indigenous communities throughout the United States. Without the nationwide support, schools and evangelization programs in these communities of great need would cease. The special collection also provides assistance to the many Diocese of Orlando programs, such as the Hope Community Center, working with our farmworkers.
With open hearts, let us unite ourselves with the love of Christ in supporting our brothers and sisters.
