The annual Red Mass asks the Holy Spirit to guide all those who seek justice. It is a special Mass for judges, attorneys, law professors and their students, as well as government officials in the legislative and executive branches. Dating from the Middle Ages, the Red Mass takes its name from the red vestments worn by the celebrant and from the English tradition of red as the academic robe or hood color for those with law degrees.
During the Red Mass, the community calls upon God the Holy Spirit to grant light, inspiration and guidance to those serving in the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government.
Bishop John Noonan invites the entire community, particularly those who work with the courts and legal profession, to join him in prayer and ask the Spirit of God to guide and direct them in their service to the people of Central Florida.
