Pope Francis has selected the 2014 theme for World Communications Day as “Communication at the Service of an Authentic Culture.” He believes that communication enables us to meet and encounter other people so we can “come to know those with whom we are called to live.” He often speaks of searching for the lost and hurting people outside the walls of our churches and schools to encounter and embrace people of all diversities.
The Light of Faith Program helps each of us to become true evangelizers, extending our message, so that more people can know about God’s care for them. The Light of Faith Program helps our parish and school staff to gain new skills and knowledge about the tools of communication so that we can evangelize – bring God’s loving grace – to all people. This is not about “marketing” but about helping people discover or re-discover the beauty that is the heart of our existence.
We ask parishes, schools and ministries to submit an entry for the 2014 Light of Faith Communications Program. Entries will be evaluated and “best practices” will be selected and showcased at the Light of Faith event:
