Catholic Foundation wins a historic number of awards

The Catholic Foundation of Central Florida’s work with generous donors and pastors has led to a historic number of national philanthropic awards, highlighting its ability to foster stewardship that improves the quality of life for the faithful throughout Central Florida.

This year, The Catholic Foundation won five total awards, including the top national Catholic stewardship awards in three categories: Annual Appeal Video; Annual Appeal Poster; and Total Planned Giving Effort. The awards were presented in October by the International Catholic Stewardship Council (ICSC). The Dearborn Heights, MI-based organization – which has 1,200 members – promotes and supports Catholic teaching about stewardship by providing education and resources for dioceses, parishes, and entities of the Roman Catholic Church.

The awards “show that we are successfully working with our chancery partners and generous donors to deepen faith and build the Kingdom of God in the Diocese of Orlando,” said Kimberlee Riley, president of The Catholic Foundation.

Each year, The Catholic Foundation collaborates with pastors, generous donors  and chancery partners on the Our Catholic Appeal campaign, which collected more than 96 percent of the gifts pledged in 2018. The Catholic Foundation produced the campaign in collaboration with the diocesan Office of Communications. Appeal gifts support every parish and school in the diocese, as well as dozens of life-changing ministries including seminarian education, retired priests, and outreach programs such as Catholic Charities of Central Florida.

The Catholic Foundation’s planned giving program received top honors for inspiring donor gifts through wills, trusts, life insurance and charitable annuities. The Catholic Foundation received ICSC “Honorable Mention” awards for the “Appeal Brochure” category, and “Total Foundation Effort,” ICSC’s highest prize. While The Catholic Foundation has won more than 20 ICSC awards in the past decade, this year’s five awards are unprecedented.

Established in 2008, The Catholic Foundation is an independent, nonprofit foundation that works with donors and pastors to support our community. Its assets of more than $54 million in investments are managed for growth and to respect Catholic social teaching. As a result of these investments, The Catholic Foundation has distributed more than $2 million this year to strengthen parish and faith life, and to address community needs in Central Florida.
