Welcome 2015 – 16 Catholic Volunteers

A new service year has begun and we are so blessed to welcome 13 new faces to the CVIF family who will begin their journey of personal growth and self-discovery.
Opening retreat was held at the San Pedro Center in Orlando and served as the perfect setting for volunteers to reflect on the impact they hope to have at their service sites throughout the next twelve months.
We were joined by speakers who gave great advice for our CVs to carry with them during their service year. Bishop Noonan encouraged us with a few special words and we were enlightened during our time at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church where we learned about the many ways their ministries serve the poor in Central Florida.
Heidi Peckham led a workshop on discovering personality types and helped volunteers learn how to use the information given to live intentionally in their communities. Sister Kathleen Power discussed active spirituality and brought on motivational conversations about vocation.
As is tradition, we spent time serving as a group during our trip to Second Harvest Food Bank in Orlando and enjoyed the opportunity to volunteer at such an amazing organization.
Board members Bob Winslow, Alfreda Ellis, Gerry Glynn, and Darcey Dinh for their visits, contributions, and advice.
Trace Trylko, Mykal Tairu, and Fred Blakely from St. Andrew and St. Vincent de Paul for hosting Lunch&Learn.
Jovanny Gonzalez and his family who visited from the Dominican Republic and provided amazingly inspirational music during our commissioning ceremony.
Father Anthony Aarons who hosted our commissioning ceremony at the San Pedro Chapel.
Do you know someone who would enjoy retreat experiences like this?
