SPRING RETREAT

Our volunteers had a great time at our Spring retreat in Miami, Florida. We spent the week reflecting on how our time has been so far and what we hope to achieve in the final months of our service year. We started our week celebrating mass with CVIF founder, Father Pat O’Neill and were visited by many guests during our retreat including this year’s Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary volunteer, Dan, who was able to spend the whole week with us!

The theme of the week was one of our CVIF core values, personal growth. Chelsea Wahman led a discussion about this quarter’s book, The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, and we enjoyed a day of silence to listen more attentively to the yearnings of our hearts and God’s call in our lives.

SERVICE DAY

We spent a great day serving together at Camillus House, an amazing organization that provides comprehensive services for people who are homeless in Miami-Dade county. Following the teachings and example of Jesus Christ, the mission of Camillus House is shelter, addiction counseling, behavioral health and job training, and health care to the poor and homeless of South Florida.

CVIF TALENT SHOW

This year’s volunteers are more talented than ever and we had a blast highlighting their skills during our annual talent show. Our very gifted Sue Rinaldi also performed an original, one-act play on the life of Edith Stein.

SPECIAL THANKS TO…

Miguel Milanes from Allegany Franciscan Ministries, Sister Anna Maria Lionetti and Susannah Bourbeau from the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary Volunteer Program and Sister Florence Bryan for leading sessions on social justice, vocational discernment, and prayer.

Your presence truly made our retreat experience complete and our volunteers really enjoyed the opportunity to engage with you.
