Bishop John Noonan joined participants from all over the diocese as he concelebrated the Mass on the feast of Corpus Christi, June 3 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe in Orlando.
More than 1,000 people processed to various altars of repose to pray before the Blessed Sacrament. Each altar was uniquely adorned to reflect the culture it represented. Music and traditions of various ethnic communities in the diocese were highlighted, as all came together as the body of Christ. “On this Corpus Christi we are celebrating again our 50th anniversary as a diocese,” noted Bishop Noonan. “Corpus Christi is the body of Christ and what better way to celebrate it than with all of our different nationalities and cultures together celebrating Christ as one body, one spirit and one Lord of all.”
Countries represented were Korea, Philippines, Africa, Brazil, Haiti, Poland, Vietnam, Ukraine, Syro-Malabar Catholic Church and Adore Ministry from Holy Cross in Orlando with a Hispanic altar.
