Stephanie Bosse, Catholic Relief Services Program Coordinator for the Diocese of Orlando received the Operation Rice Bowl 2011 Award for outstanding commitment to global solidarity and support of CRS.  Award recipients are chosen for their creative and successful support of a variety of CRS programs, especially the Lenten program Operation Rice Bowl.

Operation Rice Bowl is a long-standing program in the Diocese of Orlando, successful in great part because of the efforts of Stephanie and Deborah Stafford-Shearer, Director of the Office of Advocacy and Justice.

As the CRS Program Coordinator for the Diocese of Orlando, Stephanie speaks to many groups about Operation Rice Bowl and helps make the connection between ORB and the issues of Fair Trade, human trafficking, disaster relief in Haiti and elsewhere.

Of the funds raised through Operation Rice Bowl, 75% support CRS development projects throughout the world and 25% stays in the Diocese of Orlando to fight hunger and poverty in our community.

To learn more about participating in the Operation Rice Bowl this Lenten season, contact the Office of Advocacy & Justice at 407-246-4819 or rlointern@orlandodiocese.org.
