“Through the Holy Spirit: Casting our Nets into the Deep Waters of Vocation”
Do you have a “stirring” deep within you to consider the possibility of religious life or priesthood? Have you ever been inspired by a brother, sister, or priest and thought that you’d like to follow a similar path? This retreat will provide a prayerful, joyful, informative, and reflective setting that will help you understand whether the deep stirrings of the Spirit are leading you to the life-giving waters of a priestly or religious vocation. The purpose of this retreat is to assist you with your discernment not to recruit and there is no obligation and no pressure.
Understanding the dream God has for you is the most important life task facing you right now! At retreat, you will be invited to “put out into the deep water” by taking time to see what this “call” from God looks like, and how to discover your own unique response to this gift from God. Themes include prayer, poverty of spirit, the similarities and differences between a call to Diocesan Priesthood and Religious Life, what to expect should you follow a religious or priestly calling, and how to move forward with discernment. With a mixture of presentation, reflection, relaxation, fellowship, worship, and the option for spiritual direction we will cast our nets into the deep waters of God’s desire and dream for our lives.
The Discernment Retreat Weekend is open to single, Catholic men and women between the ages of 20-35 who are thinking about the possibility of becoming a priest, a religious brother, or a religious sister. The retreat begins at 6:00 pm on Friday, December 17 (dinner will be provided). The retreat concludes with the celebration of Mass followed by lunch on Sunday, December. 19, the 4th Sunday in Advent
