(Arch)Bishops Appoint Michael B. Sheedy as Executive Director in 2014.
At their September 2013 board meeting, the (arch)bishops of the Florida Catholic Conference (FCC) approved plans of D. Michael McCarron to step down as executive director at the end of this year.
McCarron, 66, joined the FCC in 1980 as its associate for education. He served as assistant executive director in 1994 and succeeded Thomas A. Horkan, Jr. as executive director in January 1995.
Michael B. Sheedy, 45, began his service at FCC as associate for health in January 2001. He was promoted to director of public policy in 2012. His first service to the FCC was in 1992 when he served a year as a Catholic Volunteer in Florida (CVIF).
Sheedy will assume full responsibilities as executive director January 1, 2014.
McCarron will continue to consult with the Conference on public policy issues and assist the (arch)bishops with special projects.
