Catholic Charities of Central Florida is pleased to announce new services for people in need across Polk County. Father David Vargas OSA will bless the Agape Mission Market on May 14 at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish.
Senior Director of Operations, Julie Yetter, describes it as a true transformation from the Agape Food Bank into a market-style pantry with a focus on fresh fruits and vegetables. Clients will be able to choose the items they want to take home. “The mission market is just special,” Yetter shared. “It is close to my heart because it preserves the dignity of the human person.”
The centralized location of Lake Wales will also aid families in the nearby towns of Dundee, Frostproof and Bartow. Executive Director, Gary Tester, explains the Agape Mission Market will go well beyond food ministry. “We will bring in case management to assist with financial concerns that many families who struggle with food have in other areas. Additionally, we will open a mobile senior center and provide immigration legal services at Holy Spirit Parish two days a month.”
