In the rhythms of Catholic life, the month of May has special association with our Blessed Mother. “O Mary we crown thee with blossoms today! Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May!” In honor of our Blessed Mother, we feature “The 13th Day.” This 90 minute film tells the story of Our Lady of Fatima. In a world torn by persecution, Mary offers the message of hope to three children. Based on the memoirs of Sister Lucia Santos, this DVD dramatizes the story of these shepherd children in Portugal. They experienced six appearances by a “Lady from Heaven” between May and October 1917. Mary gave a secret to the children in three parts that ranged from harrowing visions of hell to prophetic warnings of world war, communism, and the attempted assassination of the Pope. Writer-directors Ian and Dominic Higgins crafted stunning images of the visions and the final miracle. Stylistically compelling and technically innovative, this film was shot on location in Portugal and England.
