Media Center Pick of the Week: “I Have a Dream”

Hailed as one of the greatest Christian witnesses of the 20th century, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King stirred the collective conscience of America during the Civil Rights movement. In recognition of our national holiday in his honor, we feature the 22 minute DVD, “I Have a Dream.”

Hailed as one of the greatest Christian witnesses of the 20th century, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King stirred the collective conscience of America during the Civil Rights movement. In recognition of our national holiday in his honor, we feature the 22 minute DVD, “I Have a Dream.” We hear excerpts from Dr. King’s August 1963 address from the Lincoln Memorial during the March on Washington; a March 1965 exhortation to nonviolent resistance in Selma, Alabama; the appropriation of Moses’ fate in his final speech in April, 1968; and Bobby Kennedy’s impromptu eulogy in Indianapolis.

As a baby boomer, the words of this prophet are seared into my consciousness. I plan to do my best to honor and remember him that day. In keeping with the spirit of this disciple of Christ, please join Bishop Noonan in the Interfaith Prayer Service for Peace at the Congregation of Reform Judaism at 7 pm on Thursday, January 19th.
