Media Center Pick of the Week: St. Ignatius Loyola

St. Ignatius Loyola’s conversion transformed him from a soldier seeking to marry a princess and amass a personal fortune into our Lord’s co-worker seeking universal justice and peace. His conversion inspired a distinctive spiritual charism. His legacy remains vibrant 500 years later. In celebration of his July 31st feast day, we feature, “Following Christ on His Way: An Introduction to Ignatian Spirituality.”

St. Ignatius Loyola’s conversion transformed him from a soldier seeking to marry a princess and amass a personal fortune into our Lord’s co-worker seeking universal justice and peace. His conversion inspired a distinctive spiritual charism. His legacy remains vibrant 500 years later. In celebration of his July 31st feast day, we feature, “Following Christ on His Way: An Introduction to Ignatian Spirituality.” This audio-CD set contains twelve, twenty-five minute talks by the esteemed teacher, Fr. Joseph Tetlow, S.J. From his intial segment: “Finding God’s Will” to his concluding talk: “Contemplating Love.” Fr. Tetlow offers the breath-taking perspective of the Ignatian path to holiness. Through the Loyola University New Orleans Institute for Ministry Extension (LIMEX), I became familiar with Ignatian spirituality. The Diocese of Orlando has been a sponsor of LIMEX degree and certificate programs since 1985. Please contact Valeta Orlando in the Office of Faith Formation @ vorlando@orlandodiocese.org for more information. For me, Fr. Jerry Fagin, a long-time LIMEX professor, serves as an enduring witness to Christ in the Ignatian tradition. Fr. Jerry passed into eternal life this summer and I thank him for his indelible mark on my faith. In the 2010 book, Putting on the Heart of Christ, he wrote: “The graced awareness that all has been given by God moves one to gratitude and the freedom to clutch at nothing, but to return everything, even our very selves, to God.” Order the CD series from the Media Resource Center at this webpage, or call Dan Hardester or Diane Gallagher@ 407-246-4895 (or 4897).
