St-Margaret-Mary

If you visit New York City, spend some time in the bohemian boutique, Katinka, on East 9th Street in Manhattan. Speak with Billy, the seventy-something African American who presides over the premises. Ask him to play the CD of his performance at the legendary blues venue, “The Bitter End.” In his soulful voice, he sings: “…some people want to be kings, they want to be queens, but to be loved, to be loved, to be loved by a person is more than all of these things.” As Catholic Christians, our devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus expresses our gratitude for the fire of God’s love in the human heart of our Savior. In a recent general audience, Pope Benedict reminds us: “June is a month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus…I encourage you to keep this beautiful tradition alive.” In honor of the July 1st Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, we offer the 30 minute DVD, “St. Margaret Mary.” As a member of the Sisters of the Visitation, St. Margaret Mary encountered our Risen Lord in a series of mystical revelations in the 17th century. The fruit of these revelations continues in our devotional tradition. Geared toward children in the primary grades, this DVD provides an opportunity for parents to share and rediscover our Catholic Christian piety.
