“THE CANTICLE OF THE CREATURES” evokes the depths of Franciscan spirituality. Scholars tell us that this is a hymn composed over the course of the saint’s life. We hear expression of the humility Francis first found in Umbrian caves. We hear rapture with radiant Brother Sun and rising Sister Moon. Only a formative experience of intense thirst enables me to hear his tender greeting of Sister Water. We experience the Christian revelation of dying and rising through reconciliation and service. Listen to the melody and join in the dance of creation! I am indebted to New City Press for their kind permission to proclaim this fresh translation. Click here to listen to the podcast.
