Year of Faith: A Reflection for Catechetical Leaders
|Week 32 – Pentecost|
John 20 verse 23: Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.
Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 1461. Bishops as successors of the Apostles continue to exercise the ministry of reconciliation Christ entrusted his apostles. By virtue of the sacrament of Holy Orders, bishops along with priests, the bishops’ collaborators, have the power to forgive sins.
As you encourage the people you minister to seek out the sacrament of penance, how do you help them understand that Christ himself valued the healing and peace of forgiveness?
Praying with and for you in this Year of Faith,
