campusministryBishop John Noonan of the Diocese of Orlando is pleased to announce that the construction of a faith-centered student housing project is currently underway at the University of Central Florida. Located on Lockwood Boulevard, directly north of the UCF campus in Orlando, the five-story “Northview” complex will include a new Catholic Campus Ministry Center, placing the Gospel in close proximity to approximately 600 student housing units. The 20,000 square foot, two-story Catholic Campus Ministry Center is expected to adjoin a Jewish Hillel, with the twin spaces serving as both the physical and spiritual centerpiece of the community.

Because of its important role in the evangelization of young people, Catholic Campus Ministry was initially slated to receive significant capital funding from the Alive in Christ Campaign. Following the economic downturn, the original vision was postponed, with campaign funds reallocated to more immediate priorities. As a result of extraordinary circumstances and the hand of God, the Diocese is now able to resume the project at minimal cost.

A fundraising effort is currently underway to secure approximately $2 million to outfit the spacious interior.
