The U.S. bishops have issued a call to action to defend religious liberty and are urging people of good will to work to protect the First Freedom of the Bill of Rights. They outlined their position in “Our First, Most Cherished Freedom” and have also called for a “Fortnight for Freedom,” a 14-day period of prayer, education and action in support of religious freedom, from June 21 – July 4.
In support of this initiative the Diocese of Orlando is providing a number of resources and suggested actions for parishes and their parishioners, culminating in Masses across the nine-county diocese in support of religious freedom on July 4. A novena is a traditional form of prayer which takes place over a period of nine days, and the Novena for Religious Freedom calls for daily prayers and reflection during the nine day period of June 25 – July 3.

In the weeks to come, the latest information and resources related to the Fortnight for Freedom will be available through the Diocese of Orlando home page as well as the Advocacy & Justice web page.
