All ministry finds its place within the communion of the Church and serves the mission of Christ in the Spirit. Communion and mission provide the foundation for understanding and carrying out lay ecclesial ministry. Each of these workshops offered in English and Spanish will focus on a different aspect of our mission.
1. Servant Leadership: Kneading the Dough
Rev. Leo Hodges (English) and Rev Esau Garcia (Spanish)
This workshop connects the call to active ministry with responding to those in need: the suffering, the poor and vulnerable, and victims of injustice. This work requires our being pliable to the kneading hand of God.
2. Diversity: The Tapestry of God’s People
Sr. Ann Kendrick SNDdeN (English) and Sr. Gail Grimes, SNDdeN (Spanish)
The Catholic tradition welcomes diversity as an enriching experience of culture and relationship. This session will explore the valuable contribution of sharing our ministry among a variety of cultures.
3. Discernment: Dancing with God
Cynthia Wood (English) and Adele Gonzalez (Spanish)
Discerning what discipleship looks like and how we recognize the call of collaboration is not a process; but rather a dialogue or dance with God. This session breaks apart the elements of discerning the gifts we bring to ministry.
