Diocese of Orlando parishes will observe the national campaign “Fortnight for Freedom” with Mass celebrated on July 4 with special prayers for the protection of religious freedom. Also on July 4, all parishes with church bells are planning to ring the bells at 12 noon to raise awareness about this important issue.
Fortnight for Freedom runs from June 21-July 4. During these 14 days, Catholics and all people of faith are asked to pray, learn about the concerns of the Catholic Church and become advocates for religious freedom.
Parishes will also show a video with Bishop John Noonan explaining the core beliefs of the Catholic faith and answering questions about the issues we are facing as a Church and as a nation.
Contact your parish for details about events that are planned to observe the Fortnight for Freedom. Also check the Diocese of Orlando website homepage: www.orlandodiocese.org. You will find scheduled times for July 4 Masses for religious freedom. You will also find a novena for religious freedom, educational literature, and Bishop Noonan’s video on religious freedom.
