In a month, Paulist Evangelization Ministries will be offering the online course “Consider Becoming a Catholic”—based on a book of mine by the same name. The book and the course provide, I believe, important and helpful directions in the area of sharing faith today, addressing how we can present our faith, the person of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and our life as a Church, to people in a cogent and powerful way.
This course explores a contemporary apologetic based on the tradition of our Paulist Founder, Servant of God Father Isaac Hecker, who believed in using the dynamics of human desire and human searching to relate our Catholic faith. “Old truths in new forms,” was the way he said it. So the course will be particularly strong on methods and styles of presenting our beliefs, while upholding those beliefs in cogent, contemporary ways. The online course can be viewed by several people—this will actually be better for conversation—and also by seekers; this makes the expense per person quite reasonable. Conversation and dialogue between participants is an extra reward of this unique course. If you wish to include additional information about the course, you will find the information at www.pemdc.org/considerbecomingcatholic.aspx.
