WHY CATHOLIC?

During September many parishes will have “Sign up Sunday” for Why Catholic? sessions that focus on the “Celebration of the Christian Mystery: The Sacraments.” These small Christian communities are a wonderful way to learn more about our faith and share our faith while creating a close-knit community and foster deeper relationships with fellow parishioners.

REMEMBERING SEPTEMBER 11

As we recall September 11, a tragic day in our nation’s history, let us turn to God, our hope and comfort and pray for an end to violence and pray for the peace of Jesus Christ to fill our world.

Prayer Intercessions for September 11 (from USCCB)

  • For the Church, that she may continue to provide care and healing for all, especially those affected by the attacks on September 11, 2001, we pray to the Lord…
  • For all victims of violence and terrorism around the world, and for their families, that they may find comfort and peace, we pray to the Lord…
  • For the safety of our service men and women abroad, for civil servants who protect us and keep us safe, and for all who live with war and violence , we pray to the Lord…
  • For our leaders and for the leaders of nations, that they may work together to address the problems that provide fertile ground for the growth of terrorism, we pray to the Lord…
  • For the ability to forgive and for an end to all hatred, beginning in our own hearts, we pray to the Lord…

Action Item for Youth – Watch videos from Catholic priests and other leaders who experienced 9/11 first hand and hear how they ministered to victims after the attacks. http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/human-life-and-dignity/september-11/
