Agape Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities of Central Florida, Inc. received a donation of nearly $30,000 from Publix Supermarkets. The funds were collected through Publix Supermarkets’ Food for All campaign which is held during the holiday season.
Throughout Publix’s campaign, customers contributed to the fund by purchasing contribution cards in varying amounts.
“Once again, our customers and employees came together to make this campaign a huge success,” said Shannon Patten, Media and Community Relations Manager for Publix Super Markets Lakeland Division. “Agape Food Bank is an important part of our community and we are proud to play a part in their efforts.”
“We will now be able to purchase a new truck which will increase our ability to pick up salvage food and distribute it to organizations that feed the hungry in our three county service area.” commented Michael Oberle, Agape Food Bank Director.
“We are grateful for the donation to help fight hunger,” said Arne Nelson, President and CEO, Catholic Charities of Central Florida. “The Agape Food Bank mission is to help alleviate hunger in the tri-county region of Polk, Highlands and Hardee counties by providing food, education and available resources to hungry people in the community through our member agencies.”
