Imagine having running water in your home for the first time in your life. This is what the community of El Montazo will experience on the first days of June thanks to one of the many projects the Mission Office has done in our Sister Diocese of San Juan de la Maguana in the Dominican Republic.
127 homes of this small mountain village will be blessed with finally having running water in their homes. Their residents will no longer have to walk a mile to a stream to fill a 5 gallon bucket with water and walk back a mile with it just to have some water available in their homes.
The community of El Montazo has been working hard since this project started in March. Two groups of missioners have joined them since, in separate occasions, helping with excavating the ditches and installing the pipes.
A small group of missioners will travel on June 2nd to activate the new water system and will have the privilege to be a part of the inauguration which will take place that weekend in front of their Church. Happiness, gratefulness, and lots of expectation fills the air as the El Montazo residents continue to work on the last phase of this project.
