ORLANDO | Author, blogger and talk show host Danielle Bean caught the attention of those gathered for ‘Go Beyond! You are enough!’ women’s conference at Holy Family Parish in Orlando, Nov. 16. Through her warm personality and engaging presentation, young and not so young left uplifted and empowered.
The day retreat focused on what the women of the Old Testament teach about women, their mission and worth. Bean spoke of the intimate relationship with God, for which women were uniquely created, using music, video, spiritual reflection, journaling, group prayer, and small group discussion.
Sarah Larrabee was visiting Orlando for her bridal shower, but says she knew she had to make time for this conference when her friends mentioned it. “I feel like God’s got a plan for me to get this message even if I’m all the way from Washington,” she said. “Just timing wise and where I’m at in my life, I feel it’s really applicable. I’m preparing to get married so it’s really been beneficial to hear I’m worthy enough.” Larrabee also noted the conference helped her to find peace with recent work stress. She says she left knowing she’s smart enough and equipped enough to handle whatever comes her way.
Hosted by the Secretariat for Laity, Family and Life of the Diocese of Orlando, in conjunction with Holy Family Parish, Bean drew a large crowd of nearly 300 people—many of whom knew her through CatholicMom.com. The mother of eight helps mothers struggling with their role, identity and worth as mothers by sharing her own stories of parenthood and helping women see God’s grace in all they do.
Jazmin Krug, a parishioner at Holy Family said, “I feel a connection to wanting to not only see my identity in Christ fully, but also to help people who struggle with that in a future ministry. I thought this would be a great way to continue on that journey.”
