Youth Ministry Leaders and Teams are invited to Youth Ministry Formation Day on Thursday, February 16. This year’s theme is “Youth Ministry Today: Nurturing Living Discipleship with Youth and Families.” All clergy and parish ministers are also welcome to be a part of this presentation, which will cover the following topics:
- Current research on the faith of youth and implications for ministry and families. This includes research in the National Study of Youth & Religion and “Souls in Transition” by Smith.
- How parishes and families can counter the ‘secular religion’ of our culture, MTD (Moralistic Therapeutic Deism), and draw youth & families closer to God and church.
- Practical models and methods for interacting with, engaging and empowering youth, parents and families to living discipleship.
This day will be held at St Francis Hall on the grounds of the San Pedro Retreat Center. You are encouraged to weave a bit of ‘Sabbath time’ into your day. Before we formally begin our formation day you might consider joining the San Pedro community for mass at 8:30am in the Chapel. Over lunch or at the close of the day you are welcome to take advantage of the grounds, and the labyrinth for personal prayer and reflection.
