A message from the Secretary…
StrengthsFinder THANK YOU for all you bring to Ministry
Our StrengthsFinder training was a great experience for everyone who took part. Thirty-eight parishes and some other entities were represented among the 169 English and Spanish-speaking registrants over the two-days. The purpose of hosting StrengthsFinders was to address the human and pastoral lay ecclesial ministry formation dimensions that were established by the USCCB. By design, our professional leadership gatherings will intentionally focus on one or more of the LEM Formation Dimensions (i.e. intellectual, spiritual, human, pastoral). Many participants from last week’s event have asked for additional StrengthsFinder follow-up; we will look to create some opportunities going forward (now that the seeds have been planted). Thank you, again.
Parish Ministry Professionals Orientation and Update for new and veteran lay ecclesial ministers. This gathering will provide an introduction to the general norms, policies, and procedures for parish ministry in the areas of evangelization, initiation, and catechesis on all levels.

The Holy Father has solidified his itinerary for his upcoming visit to the United States of America. Many of the events surrounding his visit will be live-streamed for parish or individual access. For additional information, resources, and ideas for local gatherings, please see the following website: www.orlandodiocese.org/uspapalvisit
Our first-ever Small Christian Community Summit will feature facilitators from the North American Forum for Small Christian Communities whose board of directors will be meeting in central-Florida. The organization is the preeminent resource for Small Christian Communities which are a vital priority in the Church’s discipleship-making efforts.

Faith Formation Day is our annual diocesan catechetical/ministry conference. It gathers 800-900 catechists and ministry volunteers who are involved in parish-based catechetical, pastoral care, liturgical, and other ministries. Some Catholic school educators also attend. The gathering is culturally-diverse beginning with prayer presided by the bishop and a bilingual (English/Spanish) keynote. The day continues with four breakout learning sessions of one-hour each. Each session has 25-35 distinct workshops spanning several different languages. Lunch is offered during the middle two-sessions with exhibits from Catholic publishers and others. FFD is the largest non-liturgical event in the Diocese of Orlando. For additional information and instructions, please visit www.orlandodiocese.org/FFD2015

Bible Verse of the Week

who went out at dawn to hire laborers for his vineyard. ” – Mt. 20:1

New App Available for Download
The World Meeting of Families – Philadelphia 2015 and IBM recently announced a new mobile app “Go Philadelphia!”. The app will provide information about the region’s cultural institutions and family-friendly events taking place between September 18-29.

The app curates and displays events and attractions on an interactive online map. Visitors have instant access and detailed information about institutions, exhibits, events and attractions, translation services, frequently asked questions, schedules, maps, and more. Customized family schedules can be created on the app and saved to favorites. The app will also give users access to real-time translation and captioning services in eight languages during portions of the Papal Mass being held on Sunday, September 27.  The free app can be downloaded for Android devices and Apple devices.

World Youth Day 2016
The theme of the XXXI World Youth Day Krakow 2016 is: ‘Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy’ (Mt 5:7). Our Holy Father Francis has chosen the fifth of the eight Beatitudes given by Jesus in his Sermon on the Mount on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, to show the importance of the Beatitudes which are at the heart of Jesus’ teaching. In his first Sermon, Jesus presents us with eight examples of qualities that bring us closer to the Kingdom of God.
Catechist Formation Update
Catechist Formation Classes Website
The diocesan web page containing the instructions for and schedule of catechist formation (DCCP) classes has been posted at https://www.orlandodiocese.org//catechist-formation-classes. Please distribute the link to all those in catechetical ministry.
The Class Schedule is dynamic and will be updated frequently as we finalize host sites and instructors. The registration link is the class(course) title – click the blue title and the registration page opens for the listed class.  At present only 20 links are posted and about 30 more are pending. The schedule may be printed using the print icon at the top of the page.
Faith Formation Day Registrations
Registrations have begun to arrive in earnest with 110 received so far. While the purchaser of the registrations will receive an EventBrite confirmation/receipt, including the names of all those registered, individual participants should know that the email confirmation is a courtesy. There is no need to claim or print out your ticket – you will not need it on Sep 19 to enjoy the event.

At the conclusion of selecting breakout sessions in the Sched application, participants will not receive a confirmation. Rather, you can check back in the application at any to verify what you have chosen. If you need to view your FFD schedule, I recommend the mobile version. Bookmark your phone or tablet by visiting http://faithformationday2015disciplesin.sched.org/mobile and entering your password. Here you can view your personal schedule, browse what’s happening right now or search for what you want. The mobile web app stores the schedule data locally on your phone for offline access too.
